Full disclosure. I shot this photo today on my Blackberry through the sunroof of my car. Moments before, a low-hanging cloud formation rolled in from the southwest and I was enchanted by the darkness, so much so that I almost missed the sun breaking through the sky above. As my car became flooded with sunlight, I snapped out of my internal thoughts and shot the photo. Seconds later, the sky went gray again. Three days ago I became an Aunt for the first time, although I am "Auntie" to my good friends' little children. I adore them as though they were my own.
But this is the first time a sibling of mine has brought a new life into the world. So, as I sat watching the dark clouds roll in, the though arose, will I ever be a parent? As soon as the sunshine broke, I stopped thinking about it long enough to enjoy the warm sunshine on my smiling cheeks.
