It was five miles of awe, an afternoon hike up Echo Mountain (Pasadena). Following that, a family birthday celebration. What a wonderful way to spend a recent Sunday. Do you have a fitness routine? Does it involve hiking?
I'm not one to go for the burn, so I would much rather knuckle-down and incorporate a regular fitness routine into my every day life. Sometimes I feel guilty thinking like that, though. So, hedonic, but keeping physically
active should not be a privilege. It should be part of everyday life. I get inspired by nature, animals, and bodies fighting inertia.
After this glorious, strenuous, five-mile hike, where we reached the ruins of White City where the old tram stopped, we sought sustenance and celebration at the quaint eatery, the Park Bench Grill. Pasadena is home to some amazing restaurants, and this one, hosted by Chef Larry Quishenberry, is not to be missed.
Murals depicting the former hotel atop Echo Mountain adorn the walls of this tidy Lake Avenue restaurant, located not too far from the former estate of the legendary Marx brothers. The food is as eclectic as the neighborhood. Fish & Chips, veggie burgers, and Mediterranean-style pasta comforted our bones.
It was on this day, that thoughts of proposals ceased to consume my thoughts. I could only focus on my body. And time.
