CLAREMONT, CA --
Living in LA has beauty benefits. Los Angeles county is home to a diverse population of people who do not play down their love for healthy lifestyles. Diversity also takes on new meaning, here. This is apparent when seeking hair salons. LA County's Inland Empire is known for ethnic hair salons, salons catering to the needs of African-Americans, Asian-Americans, American-Indians, and European-Americans, all who are looking for natural hairstyles, often featuring braids, or heat-optional, or heat-minimal styling.
I never thought of myself as having "ethnic hair" until I moved to Southern California, where a diversity of people means various styling options are available. But what constitutes
ethnic hair care? Braids, twists, deep conditioners, and nut oil treatments make-up a good deal of treatments that fall under ethnic hair care, for me. I tend to evaluate hair processes for how strong and resilient they make my hair. When a treatment imparts protein, moisture, and radiance, I consider it healthy, but I am always, and forever will be, intrigued by additional qualities such as the degree of organic compounds that are included. The Healthy Hair Barin Claremont, emphasizes natural hair styles, mineral hair treatments, and organic hair-coloring options. Owner and CEO Rochelle Chapelle, is a mission-driven hair and beauty entrepreneur, and native of the Inland Empire. She practices "hairapy".
To learn more about what "hairapy" means, check in for my upcoming interview.
What do you do to promote healthy hair? Have you ever been to an ethnic-hair salon?
